In America, the Neptune Society provides this service. It is a no-frills, pre-paid funeral service that is cremation only. You can receive the ashes of your loved one, or have them scattered at sea or in a few select places on land. My parents used them (scattered the ashes at sea off Florida, where they lived in retirement) and it all went very well, even with my living in New Mexico (I was present at my father’s death, but not my mother’s).
Sorry if this sounds ghoulish.
Not goulish at all, Henry. I’ve been looking into natural burial. No cremation, no embalming. We have a page about it on our master composters website and it’s what I want: https://www.nmcomposters.org/natural-burial
