We like to walk for an hour or two before we have breakfast. And we like more than a roll or toast. We asked if they would make fried eggs and they said no. So we asked if they would sell us a liter of milk and if we could have cereal at one of their tables. They were fine with that although we’re sure they thought it was odd. So we bought the milk, two cafe con leches, and toast and had a lovely breakfast and they had a good pilgrim story to tell their friends.
Did you always carry breakfast supplies including bowls , spoons and muesli from the very first year you walked a Camino or was this an adaptation you made along the way?
We have carried those things since the first Camino although we have simplified it. The cutting board is minimal but sufficient, we like cut up fruit. We buy the knife at a hardware store here. The muesli: hmm, did I tell you the story of the wife who made her husband lug around 2.4 pounds of muesli in his already heavy pack? Not to mention a pound of walnuts. I pushed cereal for breakfast every day so we could carry the weight in our stomachs rather than in my pack. Seriously, it makes a good breakfast that is healthy and just like what we have at home.
Well that last comment was supposed to be a smiling face.
