  1. The Spanish (or local) government seems to have gone to great lengths to construct a trail that passes through gorgeous scenery, mostly along the edge of the ocean. And the trail looks well marked, easy to follow, and well kept.

The little villages, with their mom and pop bars and restaurants, seem lovely, but the prevalence of decrepit buildings would get me down, and suggests that this part of Spain, a rural area(?), and like most rural areas, is in decline.

Foz didn’t look very nice, but might have a nice inner core, as the ugliness in mid-sized Spanish towns appears to be a product of recent growth with soulless construction.

    1. There haven’t been too many decrepit buildings. We’re seeing a lot less this time. But you are right, there is a huge amount of what they call urbanization here. Just blocks and blocks and blocks of condos that look like they were thrown up very quickly. I think a lot of this happened back in the early 2000s before the crash in 2008. It’s upsetting to see. I’m sure the locals are not happy about it. Yes, Foz has a lot of it. Foz does have a nice area. One of the nicest city beaches I’ve ever seen. And the walk out of Foz is spectacular.

  2. Oh, man, these beach photos are salves to my soul. I feel myself relax every time I see them, it’s like petting a dog. Instant calm. Thanks!
