Looking into the dining room of our hotel

It’s cold and windy and rainy-ish outside, so we were glad our hotel was so all-purpose today. Nice restaurant, nice bar, nice room. Hotel Cueli in Viveda. Nothing much to explore in Viveda anyway. So, once we stepped through the hotel door, we had no plans to step out until tomorrow morning.

We haven’t posted a menu lately so thought I’d post about that. Our hotel had a nice menu del dia. (We decided not to try the €66 tasting menu.)

The paella was tasty. The broccoli was cooked more than we liked but didn’t taste too bad and we felt virtuous getting some vegetables. We liked the grilled fish (ojito). We were disappointed with the chicken with Roquefort sauce. Carrot cake was yummy. Charlie liked his dessert: cheese with quince jelly.

  1. Looks like a really good deal for €15. I’d probably have gone with the paella and grilled fish, though the chicken sounds good on paper (if not overcooked and dry). And I’m very fond of Charlie’s dessert: membrillo and manchego (typically with walnuts as well) and a glass of port.

    1. The fish and paella were both quite good and, as you suspected, the chicken was dry and overcooked.

  2. Forgot to ask: do you always order completely different meals so you can sample as many dishes as possible, or has it just worked out that way by accident?

    1. As you suspected, we always order different things so we can try as many things as possible. Also we often order something that we haven’t seen before even if something else that we have had before looks like it would be better.
