Buddha on the Camino

We passed this on the Camino this morning about half way to our destination. In someone’s backyard. It was big. (That’s a shed roof over to the left, I think.) Ella and Grubb (friends who are traveling in Japan), of course, we thought of you! That’s the ocean in the background.

  1. This was a neat statue but nothing compared to the ones you are seeing in Japan. Especially the one that was reclining. It was quite a surprise to see it here. You occasionally see little tiny statues in store windows and such, but never big ones. Yes, maybe someone had a temple or retreat center. Hmm, hadn’t thought of that.

    1. At a family Hanukkah gift exchange one year my brother ended up with a blue Buddha statue, about 18” high and a foot wide. I’ve been trying to steal it from him ever since. I suppose that’s all a bit irreverent.
