We passed this on the Camino this morning about half way to our destination. In someone’s backyard. It was big. (That’s a shed roof over to the left, I think.) Ella and Grubb (friends who are traveling in Japan), of course, we thought of you! That’s the ocean in the background.
Someone creating their own Buddhist temple? Beautiful view though
This was a neat statue but nothing compared to the ones you are seeing in Japan. Especially the one that was reclining. It was quite a surprise to see it here. You occasionally see little tiny statues in store windows and such, but never big ones. Yes, maybe someone had a temple or retreat center. Hmm, hadn’t thought of that.
At a family Hanukkah gift exchange one year my brother ended up with a blue Buddha statue, about 18” high and a foot wide. I’ve been trying to steal it from him ever since. I suppose that’s all a bit irreverent.
Little brothers should always give big sisters any blue Buddhas those sisters crave and desire!
