Percebes are a shellfish that is common in this part of Galicia. Several guidebooks mentioned that you should try them. But they grow on rock faces in the tidal zone and are difficult to harvest and hence expensive. I saw them on the menu and decided to try them. The server had to give us a lesson in how to eat them. Reminds me of trying to eat crawfish although I’m sure the Percebes are tastier.
Yes, they were a lot of work, but probably less than crawfish.I liked them pretty well but I didn’t love them. I think I like clams or mussels better but they were similar in taste to those.
