Is it bigger than a breadbox?

Bread delivery to private homes is a thing in Spain.

We have seen this many times before but what we saw before was a baguette in a plastic bag hanging on a door knob or a fence. This is the first time we have seen a tube specifically for bread delivery.

  1. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an Austrian quality bakery (best bread in the world [sorry France]) deliver fresh rolls to your door early in the morning for breakfast every day?

    Sigh.

    1. Going to Europe made me realize that America lost fresh bread. Most places in Europe you can easily and cheaply buy bread that was baked the night before. So sad to lose that. At the Lidl the other day we brought some rolls that were wonderful, this from a discount supermarket, picking out rolls from plastic bins.

We have noticed the last few days that the bread in Portugal was better than the bread in Spain. Some years ago we were going along the Italian Riviera and into France that in moving 30 miles from a little seaside Italian town to a nearly identical little French town that, all the sudden, the bread was better and the coffee was worse.

  2. We had bread delivered in the morning when we were staying in Coimbra, Portugal. We just opened the door and there it was, rolls, bread, hanging from the doorknob in a bag.
