AI and the old days

We passed this in a little town today and I was thinking it was some new kind of satellite antenna. We we tried the new feature where you have Gemini (the AI) look through your camera and you can ask questions about it. It said it was an old-style TV antenna that people used to use before cable and satellite TV. Oh yeah, I do vaguely remember that.

In my defense, this was a pretty small town in the mountains and I didn’t think they would be close enough to a broadcast antenna for a regular antenna to be useful.

  1. I wonder if they had to use those old rabbit ears too. Or, maybe they were hooked up to super fast fiber optic and were inside happily streaming.

  2. I haven’t tried Gemini yet but it sure would be useful for a lot of things we are seeing. Does it use a lot of cell data? Or more battery drain? Oh…why I don’t I just ask AI?

    1. It is only free on Android phones. I do not see it on my iPhone Gemini app. If you get the $20/ month upgrade I think you can use it on an iPhone. I read articles about it and nagged Wynette to try it. It is pretty cool. It seems really useful. It is fun to have a conversation about the object. I might spring for the Gemini upgrade when we get back. The nice thing about it is that you can share it with your family so we can both use it. It includes a TB of storage. I am interested in the programming assistant also.
