Post by Wynette: We walked 9.6 pretty easy miles today if you count the extra 0.4 we walked in Naves to a bar for lunch to find it wasn’t open. So we went back to the only other eating place in town and all they had was bocadillos. We had the nerve to ask for mayo and lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with our ham and cheese and they were delicious (photo below). Good fresh bread.

Sandy beach walking into Llanes
Did you know there is a .surf domain?
Good for surfing schools.
Harbor gate
There is a small canal through Llanes with lots of small boats moored. These gates close with hydraulic pistons. We suppose it is to protect them from heavy surf.

Our waiter at lunch today. It is a live or motion photo. I don’t know if WordPress preserves that.
More on cows, and sheep and goats
We continue to see lots of cows but in small “herds” often only 4-8 cows. They are almost all milk cows, especially in Asturias. They seem to be well-treated. But I wonder if lots of small herds like this can produce enough dairy products for a whole country like Spain. They must have some sort of cooperative system to make it economical to have small herds. Some central processing and collective negotiations to get fair prices.
Here the Camino took us over a ladder/gate alternative to get over the barbed wire fence. We crossed over 3 or 4 of these. Note cows in background and yellow arrow.
The cows here all have great views although they probably don’t appreciate it. And they are always on hilly ground, often quite steep.
