Post by Wynette: They spell them “pinchos” here, vs. “pintxos” in Basque Country. But pronounced the same. Haven’t heard them called “tapas” yet.

I’m a little puzzled. I thought you were at a B&B. And don’t most places serve breakfast of some sort, which is the norm in Europe, though fancy hotels tend to charge outrageous prices for their buffet breakfasts.
On walking days, I just assumed that you wanted to get out early, and skipped the provided breakfast, opting for a cafe breakfast a couple of hours into your walk. But maybe I’ve assumed wrong.
Actually a lot of the places don’t have breakfast or allow an option not to have it. Yes, we like to get up and get going before breakfast. We have only had breakfast at one place because the woman seemed so set on serving it to us. At home we usually don’t eat until 11 anyway. What we like to do is get up and start walking for a few hours. Then stop for coffee and pintxos around 11 and then get to where we are going and have a big lunch, a menu del dia, around 2 or 3. Then we have fruit and cereal in the room for dinner. That works out great. the breakfasts are usually too much pastries and sweet things. Charlie
