Charlie in the secret garden
Post by Wynette: We are having a lovely relaxing day in Santander. Will have la comida (lunch) soon and then do laundry at a nearby lavandaria autoservicio (self-service laundry).
Pinchos for breakfast
Post by Wynette: They spell them “pinchos” here, vs. “pintxos” in Basque Country. But pronounced the same. Haven’t heard them called “tapas” yet.
Morning salutation
Post by Wynette: We stopped to rest on the bench. She is German. On a surfing trip with her boyfriend and two children. Doing her morning yoga. She said surfing is great all along the Atlantic coasts of France and Spain.
On the headlands…
Even the grass was beautiful.
On the trail
There were so many amazing views on the trail today it is hard to pick a few. This was kind of a huge tide pool. Santander it the distance.
Where is San Tan? Santander
A guide to pronunciation. And a lovely town it is. Too nice to stay only one day.
Through a glass, darkly
Reflection. Just off the ferry in Santander.
Through and Over
Post by Wynette: In a previous post I said “we scrambled through and over some boulders.” I should have said “we literally scrambled through and over.” Charlie snapped this photo before squeezing through the hole. I was too busy worrying how I’d get through that I forgot to take a photo of him squeezing through. Charlie said it wasn’t easy (with pack). I decided to scramble over. That wasn’t easy either, at least for me. I was about half way finished with the hard part when some young pilgrims came flying past me.
