Charlie.

Charlie. Rock soup is a regional speciality in this area. Here is one of the fields where they grow rocks for the soup.

Charlie. Hornillos has two new albergues and a new casa rural since we were here 18 months ago. Still only one bar/restaurant and one store. The only reason the town still exists is the Camino.

Charlie. We heard about the French couple with a burro and we saw them in Hornillos. He was very cute.

Charlie. This is the common room, very colorful. We made eggs with onions, cheese and tomatoes. Cookies for dessert.

Charlie and Wynette. We’re now on the Meseta, a high plain. Some say it is boring but we like it. It was cold and windy today but we only walked four hours so it was okay. Here’s another Meseta photo with windmills in the distance. The Meseta is flat in these photos, but most of it is not so flat. Nothing like eastern New Mexico/west Texas.

Wynette. No smoking allowed inside. Creative woman!

Charlie. Last Camino we looked for the place where the stolen backpack story ended but we couldn’t find it. It turns out we took an alternative route by mistake last year. So here is the gate, in a park on the way out of Burgos, just like the movie.

Charlie. Wynette finally found the foot product she was looking for in this pharmacy in Burgos.
