Salted cod is important in Basque culture and in the rest of Spain too. This store only sells cod. This fixation on cod began 1000 years ago when Basque fishermen found cod off Canada in the North Atlantic. We find this love for cod to be strange when there is so much fresh local fish available whereas cod is neither local nor fresh.
You indicate the type of room you want, put in your credit card, scan your passport and it dispenses the key and gives you the keypad code to open the door.

The Camino del Norte has excellent signage, just as good as the Camino Frances. A yellow arrow shows up whenever you are thinking “am I still on the trail?” I like these signs that show distances.
A little out of our price range but the food is probably excellent. A euro is $1.25 right now so add 25% to the prices.
